  1. Look at that stud who is Happy, Hungry and Humble! Katherine is one of the top three studs who I have witnessed improve the most, and is ALWAYS smiling as she crushes a workout!

    Honesty Moment! The first day back when the doors opened we did dead lifts and I hurt my back. Those of you who know me know that I’ve had 7 major surgeries including a complete rebuild of my leg and two spinal surgeries for ruptured discs. When I started I was a wreck. My progress in the gym was because our stud coaches protected me and brought me along slowly and I had an amazing therapist who would work on me between WOD’s.

    When my back popped it scared me. I LOVE our box and while I can’t keep up with the young studs I have gotten back into decent shape for a walking fossil. The next four weeks were agony. I couldn’t stand straight, sitting hurt, bending was excruciating. I cried not because of the pain but because I knew if I had ruptured one of the two discs again I was done, and I can’t imagine leaving our box.

    I told Coach Clay and he and my therapist talked and they both felt it was muscular and that I had just strained my back. Still, Coach protected the athlete, kept me moving and stretching but lowered my weights, and watched and scaled my movements. Today my doctor told me it was just a severe strain and I could work thru the discomfort without fear of serious injury. He told me everything Coach Clay and my therapist did was perfect and said to keep listening to them and do as much as I can tolerate, and I should be pain free in another 4 or 5 weeks!

    I share this because our stud coaches know what they are doing, and they make our safety a priority. You don’t get that at regular gyms. Coach assessed me, modified my WOD to protect me, communicated with my therapist and monitored me, and today he even gave me a recommendation for how to strengthen this specific part of my back to bring me back even stronger. That is pretty cool.

    As athletes we ALL want to crush these workouts, and like the teams I coach I tell them playing hurt is different than playing sore. I trust Coach Clay, Coach Dave and Coach Mindy 100%, and they care for us and want us to do our best. I’ve been around Athletics my entire life and these stud Coaches know their stuff. Don’t quit coming because it hurts, we should be sore as hard as we work! But if you get injured make sure you let your coach know and listen to what they say!

    CVCF is the BEST thing to happen to our community in a long time. High school studs competing for championships, to first timers get the same respect. Hungry, I can’t wait for the next WOD! Humble, be thankful for everyday you get to workout because it could be your last! Happy, look at Katherine’s smile, it says it all!

  2. Dail, you literally have me in tears this morning! What a compliment! I’ll keep striving and working to try to live up to it. You’re right, we have so much to be thankful for with this CVCF family and you’re such a huge part of that. And I’m always smiling because of the people I get to be on this journey with!

    1. I told Cale during the workout if my pull-ups looked like Sarah’s, the workout would have to have been easier. Poetry in motion. On the way home April said she is just so smooth.
