Get to know Colton Phillips, November Member of the Month, a little better in his Q&A:

How long have you been doing CrossFit?
I started CrossFit in June so ’bout 5 months

How did you get introduced to Clinch Valley CrossFit?
Whitney Seiber had told us about it and Reid talked me into trying it. I’m glad he did.

What kind of music do you like and who is your favorite singer?
My favorite music is older country, rock, and bluegrass. Favorites would be “The Possum”, Randy Travis, Hank Jr, AC/DC, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Ralph Stanley, Ricky Skaggs, and Earl Scruggs.

Which private concert would you want to attend?
Never been to a concert, so not real sure. I’ve heard Garth Brooks puts on a good show, so I’d probably try that one.

Who was your favorite wrestler from the 90s?
My favorite wrestlers were Sting and The Undertaker. 

If you were a professional wrestler, what would your name be?
The Briceville Hornet. Gotta stick to my roots 

What is your favorite and least favorite movement in CrossFit?
My favorites would be the deadlift and rowing. My least would be the Echo Bike.
I’d rather run the 6k again.

Besides CrossFit, what do you like to do for fun?
Hunt, fish, and watch Tennessee sports, as hard as that is sometimes.

Have you ever had a nickname? What is it?
I’ve been called Colt since I was little. My papaw calls me Croton Oil. Not sure if that’s good or bad.

What did you want to be when you were little?
I always wanted to be a professional football player/fisherman.

What is your favorite movie?
That’s a tough one. For an older movie “Where the Red Fern Grows” was good and anything with John Wayne is good. For newer movies, “8 Crazy Nights” is pretty funny. “Lawless” would be high on the list.
